Scholarships awarded
Thanks to former Boxley resident, Jean Hadley, the Sheridan Historical Society is able to provide two Sheridan High School graduates each year with $1,000 scholarships. The scholarships go to graduates planning careers in a skilled trade. The spring, 2025 awardees are Clover Dorsey and Brexton Sedwick, here with Jean Hadley.



Kokomo Opalescent Glass visit
The Sheridan Historical Society visited the Kokomo Opalescent Glass on April 30, 2025. KOG was founded in 1888 and produces world class art glass. Join the Historical Society to learn about future field trips. Download a membership application here.



Volunteers Contribute $59,000 in Value
Over 4,000 people visited the Sheridan Historical Society Museum in 2024. The Society runs on volunteers, who together donated almost 3,000 hours of work last year. This work is valued at a bit over $59,000. 




Abraham Lincoln Visit
The Sheridan Historical Society brought history--and Abraham Lincoln--to life at the Sheridan Elementary School on February 25, 2025. Students learned about Lincoln's life and the Civil War, and were able to ask the president questions.

Eclipse Watch Party
Sheridan Historical Society members and friends gathered April 8, 2024 to share this once-in-our-lifetime celestial event. The next total eclipse rolls across Sheridan in  2153.  




County Commissioner's Visit
The Sheridan Kiwanis Club hosted Hamilton County Commissioner Mark Heitbrandt at the Sheridan Historical Society on March 31, 2024. At the event, which was open to the public, Heirbrandt described what the commissioners do, and answered questions about water, and the construction and Utility District along Highway 31.


A conversation about Farmland
Residents gathered at the Sheridan Historical Society July 29, 2023 to learn about agricultural easements for protecting farmland. Speakers were from the Wood-Land-Lakes RC&D Land Trust, the USDA-NRCS Indiana State Easement Program, Elkhart County, and the Indiana General Assembly.
